Ugborodo Youths demand investigation of CNL Official, over alleged breach of Local Content Law

Youths of Ugborodo Federated Community in Warri South - West Local Government Area, have called on the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, to investigate Office of the Procurement Manager of Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, over alleged breach of Local Content Law.

The youths, called for audit of all host community contracts awarded under the office in the last two years, saying contracts such as community labour, catering, housekeeping, marine logistics support and small civil works meant for host community, were being put on general bid, instead of reserving same for Ugborodo Indigenes.

National Youth Leader of Ugborodo Federated Community, Comr. Louis Timeyin Atoto, who made the demand in a letter addressed to the Managing Director of Chevron Nigeria Limited, the Executive Secretary, NCDMB and the Host Community Development Trust Board, stated that action of the said CNL Official, was causing youth restiveness, unemployment and poverty in Ugborodo.

According to Atoto, the CNL Official " is occupying a position that should be occupied by origins/ Indigenes, under the Local Content Law" hence the NCDMB, should " verify her expatriate quota status and compliance."

Whilst stressing the need for Chevron Nigeria Limited to reserve all host community contracts for Ugborodo Indigenous contractors " as stipulated in the PIA" the Ugborodo youth leader, urged the company to act within 30 days, effected Wednesday September 2 " to avoid a total breakdown of the existing peace in our area."
