Armed robbers stormed Auchi in Edo State late night robbing three major banks amidst heavy gunfight with Nigerian troops.
The brazen attack led to raids on three major banks in the township namely First Bank, GuarantyTrust and Access bank.
A dozen persons were reportedly killed, and several others injured in the attack as the robbers freely used dynamites to blast open large bank doors and strong rooms.
The police commissioner in the state told SaharaReporters that the situation has been brought under control but stated he could not provide immediate update as he was traveling to Auchi to assess the situation.
