Relocation of IOCs: We’ll resist National Assembly’s gang up against N/Delta, coalition warns

Irked by the position of the House of Representatives against the relocation of operational headquarters of International Oil Companies, IOCs to Niger Delta as directed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, a group which goes by the name Ex- Agitators in Niger Delta Coalition Project, EANDCP has vowed to resist what it described as a gang up by the National Assembly against the Niger Delta.

In an online statement issued Thursday May 4, the group declared that the action of the National Assembly is “totally acceptable and we will not remain silent, if the National Assembly keep playing politics with the development of the Niger Delta”.

The statement which was signed by Amb. Young Piero , Blackman Mink Edisemi AKA Gen. Blackman and Excel Yerindideke Toriomo AKA Gen. Monday, President, Secretary and Coordinator respectively, averred, “we shall resist every gathering that is not in favour of IOCs relocating their operational headquarters to the Niger Delta”.

While stressing that the days when politicians capitalize on “the death and poverty” of Niger Deltans “to enrich themselves are over”, the group warned members of the National Assembly to avoid what it termed “inflammatory remarks, so as not to jeopardize the relative peace presently being experienced in the Niger Delta, which has led to increase production in crude oil and improved gas supply to the power plants”.
