Beneficiaries of Starter Packs for the establishment of Catering and Confectionary Business under the Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme, STEP have been advised to make judicious use of the golden opportunity provided by the Delta State Government to better their lots, Our Delta North Correspondent reports.
The Delta State Chief Jobs Creation Officer, Prof. Eric Eboh who handed the Starter packs on behalf of the State Government in Asaba, congratulated the beneficiaries for being able to undergo the training, noting that the expectations of the government is they make good use of the Starter packs given to them.
“You will agree with me that you are one of the most favoured trainees. You are going to succeed and we want to be part of that success.”He added.
The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mrs. Mary Iyasele, extolled the beneficiaries for their resilient and commitment towards ensuring a better future for themselves and their families.
Being able to pass through the training is success, she stated, adding that as a young woman she has to struggle for her education as a caterer.
“The government has spent so much money on you. This is the beginning and it is very important. This is the foundation in the business of catering. You must ask questions from those in the business and behave in a polite manner and be neat as well." Iyasele told the beneficiaries.
A goodwill message also came from, Mr. Mekwuye of the Directorates for Youths Monitoring and Mentoring.
Items presented to the STEPpenuers includes: Jobs Creation grants (Non-Repayable), 1no Electric Mixer (Master Chef), Cheffing Dish - Hoffner 9 litres, Deep Freezer - Thermocool 140 litres, others are Micro credit (Repayable), Gas Over fabricated with oven and gas cooker, 1no 12kg Gas Cylinder, 1no Double Burner fabricated, 1no Cast pot, 1no cast frying pan, 1no Iceman Cooler 60 litres, 1no Potato Cutter, 1no Non-stick pan, 1no kitchen Scale, N123, 000 cash allowance, three months stipend on confirmation of business start-up N30,000 at N10,000 per month.
One of the beneficiaries, Favour Ofili, commended Governor Okowa for the gesture even as she promised to strive to empower at least three persons as a way of reciprocating the government support in her life.
