The Okere-Urhobo Traditional Council of Chiefs, Elders and the entire people of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, Warri has labelled Chief Christopher Okumagba as impostor and debunked the purported emergence of him as the Orosuen- (King) elect as reported in a community newspaper, Our Delta Central Correspondent reports.
Addressing newsmen Wednesday September 20, at the palace in Warri, the Otota/ Regent of the Kingdom, Chief Wilson Eboh (JP) said the purported presentation and introduction is false, adding that the publication which was signed by Chief D.B.O Opoggen should be disregarded.
Chief Eboh said for now, nobody has been selected, appointed, installed and crowned Orosuen (King) of the Kingdom, saying, “it is the duty of the Kingmakers of the Kingdom headed by the Otota to install an Orosuen”.
The Otota disclosed that the selection of a new King has commenced, adding that the programme of activities has been announced publicly to the entire Kingdom by the Kingmakers.
According to him, D.B.O Opoggen who purportedly did the presentation and introduction of Chief Christopher Okumagba is not a member of the Kingmakers Council and has no right to select or appoint anybody. “it is an illegal action and the case has been affirmed by the court in suit No: W/525/2014 and W/197/2012”.
Chief Eboh assured the indigenes and residents of the Kingdom that at the end of the on-going selection, which is in-line with the Okere-Urhobo Kingdom Traditional Chieftaincy declaration, the Kingmakers will announce the date.
