Community demands takeover of schools constructed through indigenous efforts

The people of Kokodiagbene Community in Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, have called on the Delta State Government to take over Kokodiagbene Model Secondary School and Ebiabu Primary School II which they initiated and constructed via community driven efforts with amount running into millions of naira.

Our Senior Correspondent reports that Chairman of Kokodiagbene Commnunity, Comrade Sheriff Mulade and the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Oboro Gberaun II made the call Wednesday September 20 at Kokodiagbene when the Chief Inspector of Education for Warri South-West Local Government Area, Mr. Ariwojo Eze visited schools in the community to access the facilities/infrastructures on ground.

Fresh Angle International can report that the Sheriff Mulade leadership through indigenous efforts was able to construct a building of three classrooms and procured a speed boat within the last six months for about N 10 million.

Comrade Mulade executive also constructed the Kokodiagbene Model Secondary School and a Market Project in the community without revenue from external sources.

Checks by Your Soar Away International tabloid revealed that Ebiabu Primary School II which was intended to accommodate 50 pupils, now has 115 pupils’ enrolment and the teachers in-charge of academic activities at the school as at the time of this report were engaged by Kokodiagbene Community.

While thanking the CIE, Warri South –West Local Government, Mr. Eze for coming to access facilities on ground at the schools in Kokodiagbene, Comrade Mulade, an Environmentalist appealed to International Oil Companies, IOCs doing business in Warri South-West Local Government Area to provide better educational facilities to schools in Kokodiagbene, adding that the Delta State Government should also post teachers in its employ to Ebiabu Primary School II, Kokodiagbene Model Secondary School and the other government owned school in the community.

The Pere of Gbaramatu, Oboro Gbaraun II who spoke through the Spokesman of Gbaramatu Traditional Council, Chief Godspower Gbenekama, identified basic educational needs of the area to include: lack of teachers and lack of basic infrastructures.

The Chief Inspector of Education for Warri South-West Local Government Area, Mr. Ariwojo Eze praised the peaceful disposition as well as self help efforts of Kokodiagbene people and promised to relay their outcry to the Delta State Government through the State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education.

He admonished pupils and students in the community to take their studies seriously in order to become successful people in the future.

Our Senior Correspondent reports that 10 bunkers and 20 mattresses were donated to Kokodiagbene Model Secondary School by Rev. (Dr.) I.C. Tolar of Triune Ministries International , even as 10 bunkers was also donated by Ayemide & Sons Enterprises through Capt. Mark Timiyan.
