The funeral ceremony of foremost Itsekiri leader and renowned Historian, Pa. J.O.S. Ayomike who recently died at the age of 90 will take place on the 2nd, 3rd and 5th of November, 2017 in Warri, Delta State, a statement from the respected Itsekiri Leaders of Thought, ILOT has revealed.
The statement signed by the Chairman of ILOT, Chief Edward E. Ekpoko described late Pa. Ayomike as a “repository of knowledge, accomplished writer, astute and shrewd statesman, Niger Delta leader, fearless fighter, a no-nonsense, but very jovial personality and spokesman for his Itsekiri ethnic minority nationality of Delta State”.
Chief Ekpoko noted, “Pa J. O. S. Ayomike was a Management staff of the Nigerian Tobacco Company Limited from 1966-1980, where he rose to Senior Management positions and had experience of, and exposure to, several training courses in Nigeria and Overseas. During this period, upon secondment, he was a Civil Commissioner in Midwest/Bendel State from 1975 – 1979. He served as Commissioner for Health from 1975-1976, Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources from 1976-1978 and then Commissioner for Information, Culture and Sports from 1978-1979”.
