Chairman of Itsekiri Regional Development Committee, IRDC, Chief Ayirimi Emami has tasked members of the newly sworn-in internal committees of IRDC that the leadership bestowed on them is a responsibility and not a position.
The IRDC boss made the declaration Tuesday April 16, at the IRDC Secretariat in Warri during the inauguration of seven IRDC internal committees.
Chief Emami whose address was read by the Vice Chairman of IRDC, Mr. Austin Oniyesan, advised members of the newly inaugurated committees to be assiduous and steadfast in their assignment as well as to be purpose driven if they intend to succeed.
Secretary of IRDC, Deacon Daniel Odonghanro in an interview explained that the seven committees: Employment/Labour Committee, Community Development/ Project Committee, Sustainable Development/ Project Committee, Local Content Committee, Project Monitoring Committee, Peace Reconciliation Committee as well as Education/ Skill Acquisition and Training Committee are to compliment IRDC executive and Community Engagement Management Board(CEMB) Sub-Committees.
Responding on behalf of other committee chairmen, chairman of Employment/Labour Committee, Mr. Tony Omabuwa called for the support of every indigene of the 23 IRDC communities in their resolve to deliver on the task ahead.
Mr. Omabuwa, a former President of National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG, promised that they will not betray the confidence reposed in them.
Our Correspondent reports that while Mr. Julius Atete will serve as Secretary of Employment/Labour Committee, Messrs Besidone Megbuluba, Fredrick Kuke, Tony Mene, Smart Edema, Chief Francis Omatseye and Isaac Dorsu will chair Community Development/Project, Sustainable Development/Project, Local Content, Project Monitoring, Peace Reconciliation as well as Education, Skill Acquisition& Training Committees respectively.
