The Delta State government has reiterated its commitment towards ensuring that local government councils across the state utilize their resources for the execution of public oriented projects.
Special Assistant to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan on local government project monitoring, Engr. Jude Sinebe stated this in Bomadi, headquarters of Bomadi local government during his team’s visit to the area to monitor completed and ongoing projects executed by the Collins Olorogun administration in the area.
He explained that while the core mandate of council chairmen in the state are security and sanitation, his office will continually monitor the prudent management of local government resources in the execution of projects as well as ensuring that ongoing projects are executed according to specifications.
Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after the exercise, the Governor’s Aide commended the state governor, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan for appointing the present crop of council chairmen in the state who according to him have recorded some level of progress in the area of project execution in the various councils he has visited.
Mr. Sinebe who inspected the reconstructed old legislative building, the ongoing renovation of the Bomadi health centre and other projects in the local government expressed satisfaction over the efforts of the Bomadi local government chairman in the area of project execution within his short period in office.
The SA called on council chairmen in the state to set up similar project monitoring unit and strengthen existing ones to effectively carry out monitoring of council projects.
He charged engineers working with local government councils to be alive to their responsibilities and ensure that only quality jobs are done as much depends on them for the success of any administration.
