A Warri based nutritionist, Mr. NagsAmanoritsewor has warned against the use of fertilizers in agriculturalproduce, stressing that it further denourishesthe existing inadequate nutrients found in processed food.
Mr. NagsAmanoritsewor handed down the warning Wednesday October 12 in Warri, DeltaState during a special health talk organized by the Warri South Chapter ofState Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, branch of Non Academic StaffUnion, NASU. According to him, the use of fertilizers for farm produce as wellas the processing and storage of food in modern times have done more harm tofood nutrients than good. While advising participants of the one day healthtalk to adhere strictly to the rules of diabetes patients no matter theirhealth status, the nutritionist canvassed the use of food supplements as apanacea to the declining nutrients found in food.
Earlier inhis opening remark, the Warri South Chairman of NASU, SUBEB branch, Mr. RoyAjuyah enjoined participants to take advantage of the one day health talk byensuring strict adherence to the knowledge gained. He described the one dayseminar as part of the union’s social responsibility aimed at ensuring soundhealth as well as general welfare of its members.
According tohim, the one day seminar is the beginning of a series of programmes lined up byhis leadership with a view to updating the knowledge of its members in allramifications.
