A suspected cult group on Saturday June 8 cut off the right hand finger of a man simply identified as Papa Oke, Fresh Angle can exclusively report.
Our Senior Correspondent gathered that the cult group was in search of a rival cult member simply identified as Alex at a 3bedroom apartment at No.7 Onokpasah Street in Ughelli unknown to them that the apartment now has a new occupant, a certain Papa Oke and members of his family.
It was further gathered that they mistook Papa Oke who packed into the 3bedroom apartment with his family barely a week before the attack for the unidentified rival cult member they were looking for.
Our Source said members of the cult gang pounced on Papa Oke, used battle axe, cutlasses, broken bottles and daggers on him, left him with one of his right fingers cut off after inflicting several injuries on his body, while members of his family were reportedly given the beating of their lives.
Fresh Angle however gathered that members of the cult group who were said to be over fifty in number that carried out the attack later discovered that they molested the wrong person with one of them saying "we done fork up, na the wrong person we dey beat".
Investigations reveal that most residents of Ughelli are scared of going out at night for fear of being attacked by members of cult groups who often attack, maim, rape and steal from innocent citizens particularly on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Some residents of the town who spoke to Our Senior Correspondent appealed to the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan to critically look into the activities of cultist in Ughelli, Ughelli North local government and beef up security in the area, noting that the local vigilantes have become afraid of members of the cult groups.
