Commercial vehicle owners have urged the Federal Government to urgently rehabilitate the deplorable Oyo-Ibadan Expressway before it gets to a state of disrepair.
Our Oyo State Correspondent who visited the ever busy route Thursday August 29, reports that the motorists claimed that appeals had been made to the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA, to commence repair work on the road, but the agency was yet to take action as at the time of this report.
“In the last two months, I have had to repair my vehicle up to five times, due to the bad road. Accidents have become a daily occurrence on the road as well. We cannot continue to loose lives on daily basis, so i am appealing to the Federal Government to expedite action on the road. There is no alternative road we can ply, because the old Oyo-Ibadan Road has been abandoned since the beginning of the construction of the new expressway, due to its deplorable state too. As matter of urgency, the Federal Government should also revisit the Old Oyo-Ibadan Road, by rehabilitating it, so that motorists can have alternative routes to get to their various destinations with ease”, one of the commercial motorists who craved anonymity posited.
