Warri based constitutional lawyer, Dr. Akpo Mudiaga Odje has tasked un-employed graduates to de-emphasize their paper qualification and focus more on the development of skills that will build their competence as well as “forensic experience” in their quest to secure employment.

Dr. Odje made the call at the official representation of the book authored by Samuel Aghomi tittled, “Wake Up, Take This Job” held at Ugboroke near Warri, Delta State.

The legal practitioner cum Niger Delta activist who was the book reviewer expressed his thoughts this way, “graduates should place less emphasis on paper qualification in getting a job rather, they should make themselves competent and have the forensic experience for employment”.

Dr. Odje who described the book  which has 16 chapters and 269 pages as a great book, enjoined  graduates who are mainly youths to equip and develop themselves  by acquiring skills and be revenue generators rather than job seekers.

While noting that 95% of work failure in Nigeria is as a result of excuses and laziness on the part of Nigerians, Dr. Odje admonished youths to be disciplined irrespective of their degrees, grades and age.

In an interview shortly after the book presentation, Dr. Odje called on the Federal Government to set aside 10% of its allocation to the education sector as well as partner with private and corporate establishments to promote education in the country.

In his opening remark, chairman of the occasion, Dr. S.J. Eshenake, enjoined youths to be entrepreneurs and employers of labour, stressing that there are no longer government jobs.

Proprietor/Principal of Delta Careers College, Dr.Emmanuel.E.Ukeredi who described the book as a key to success for all, advised that the time for youths to act is now, particularly in the area of creativity so as to become employers of labour.
