Controversy trails imposition of PDP candidate in Delta

As the 2015 general elections draw nearer, Anioma Conscience Initiative has raised alarm over prevailing cases of imposition of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Candidates in various elective posts in Delta State.

In a release made available to the press and signed by the secretary of the organization, Mrs. Chinasa, Ugoh maintained that the Aniocha / Oshimili Federal Constituency primary election for the House of Representatives of the PDP which Evangelist Onyemachi Joan Mrakpor  claimed victory, was inconclusive.

The release also stressed that the inconclusive election was widely circulated on print media and social media

According to Anioma Conscience Initiative, the crux of the matter that beats the imagination of Deltans is where on earth did Amechi Joan Mrakpor and Paul Adingupu who are parading themselves as winners of the inconclusive party primaries got the results which they tendered in the court? Why those in court claiming victory and campaigning as flgbearers, where did they have their mandate?

It was gathered that during the primaries, Oshimili South and Oshimili North Local Government Areas completed their primary election whereas, voting for Aniocha South was not completed but, Aniocha North delegates did not vote at all.

It could be recalled that Chief Edwin Clark earlier cautioned against party imposition of unpopular candidate outside the wishes of the masses.

Clark further revealed that such act of imposition may have the capacity to hunt the political prosperity of PDP negatively in winning this year’s election.

However, the group condemned the broad day light robbery of the collective democratic values and institutions. Adding that based on suspected forgery, they call on the party leaders in the state and national to disqualify both candidates, Joan Mrakpor and Paul Adingupu.

They also stated that their chosen candidate is Shedrack Rapu from Oshimili South LGA who is still in PDP unlike their second choice, Mr. Ngozi Okolie who defected to Accord party.

According to the release which reads: “we, the good people of Oshimili want to state categorically that we have love for our great party, PDP and have been committed to the various Victories of our party in all past elections. We have unanimously ensured that PDP candidates from Aniocha LGAs won their elections in previous Aniocha/Oshimili Federal constituency since 1999 to date”.
