Police kill robbery suspect
One of the suspected armed robbers


Men of the Nigerian Police from ‘B’ Division in Asaba in concert with a local vigilante have gunned down an armed robbery suspect around Port Gold Iyiabi Street, Asaba, Delta State.

The dead robbery suspect with members of his gang reportedly attacked occupants of Port Gold Iyiabi Street and on sighting the security team, engaged them in a shootout. It was in the course of the shootout that the unidentified armed robber was killed, while other members of his gang escaped.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, DSP. Celestina Kalu, items recovered from the hoodlums include two cut-to-size locally made pistols and ten expended cartridges.

In similar vein, Police operatives at Agbor Division also in Delta State have arrested a robbery suspect, Lucky Okwunwa, while the other member of his gang, Confidence Ojieh was picked up at a nearby bush.

They were said to be operating along Owanta Street by Alisimiya, Boji-Boji, Agbor when the Police operatives who received a distress call mobilized to the scene.

The Police in Ozoro Division and the local vigilante in the area have also arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered one locally made cut-to-size gun as well as a face mask from him.

Meanwhile, following information that one Godspower Edward of Okwagbe in Ughelli South Local Government of Delta State was seen with a suspected stolen tricycle with Reg. No. AYB 957 QC, detectives from Otu-Jeremi Division reportedly swung into action and arrested the said Godspower Edward.

According to a Police statement, on interrogation, the suspect disclosed that he bought the said tricycle from one Biris Tyarede of Nokara in Burutu Local Government Area.

The statement added that the said Biris Tyarede was later seen at Okwagbe with another tricycle with registration No. BKW 129 QB and he was promptly arrested. He allegedly confessed that he stole the tricycle from Oghara and Warri respectively.

Police say he will soon be arraigned in court at the end of the investigation.
