The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu has tasked grandaunts of Petroleum Training Institute, PTI in Effurun, Delta State to create job opportunities, instead of seeking for employment.

Dr. kachikwu gave the advice at the convocation ceremony for the award of diplomats, certificate and prize of 2012/2013, 2013/2014, 2014/2015 academic session of PTI held at the institute’s conference centre weekend.

He said with the crash in the price of petroleum products at the International Market, there was no way the government can provide employment for everybody, but it is the duty of all concerned to invest in one form of business or the other in order to produce, saying most countries of the world are what they are today because they depend less on the government, but produce for their own consumption.

Dr. kachikwu averred that every family should learn to set up businesses as this was the only way the country can move forward, adding that everybody has to contribute to the growth of the country, even as he quipped that the country is blessed with natural resources and “it is our duty to exploit it for the betterment of the country”.

According to the Minister, too much emphasis has been placed on the government which has killed the spirit of hard-work and creativity.

He charged the grandaunts not to allow the system drag them down, but move on to achieve success in their endeavour, just as he enjoined government to create the enabling environment for individuals and corporate bodies to succeed in their businesses.
