Lawmaker raises alarm of school prone to threat

 Member representing Okehi Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanni Kekere has raised an alarm that due to the poor state of infrastructure in Government Girls’ Unity Secondary School, Oboroke in Okehi Local Government, it is prone to attack, Fresh Angle International can report.

Our Roving National Correspondent reports that Hon. Kekere who is also the Chairman House Committee on Education Science and Technology made the observation in the school during an on-the -spot assessment, noting that the state of the school is disheartening and not encouraging in promoting girl child education.

He stated that the college is currently under security threat due to the un-conducive environment where the students who are less than 90 are acquiring knowledge.

He blamed the previous administrators for neglecting the Girls’ College stressing that, what happened in Chibok, Borno State were over 200 girls were kidnapped due to lapses in security will not be entertained in the community.

He called on concerned authorities to do the needful by providing adequate security for the school and develop it infrastructures as well as improve on its feeding programs and recruit qualified teachers.

A cross section of the students

The Principal of the College, Zainab Atima while confirming that the school is under threats as it has been faced with series of attack by men of the underworld, quipped that she feared for the safety of her girls and appealed for the repairs of the decaying infrastructures in the school.

Our Correspondent reports that the only new building sited in the school is the Federal Government Library while critical infrastructure such as roofs, hostels, kitchen, class rooms, school facilities are all in a dilapidated condition.
