President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered leaders in the Niger Delta, especially the Edwin Clark's Niger Delta Stakeholders to assist security agencies to fish out those responsible for the bombing and vandalism of critical crude oil as well as gas lines.
The President who was unfazed by the 16-point demands of the Niger Delta leaders gave the marching order at Abuja yesterday during the jaw-jaw he had with selected leaders of the oil and gas rich region.
A source at the meeting told Your Soar-Away International Tabloid that President Buhari didn't respond to the 16-point demand of the Niger Delta leaders, but sounded a note of warning on the security implications of shielding those responsible for the vandalism, especially as it affects people living in the region, saying as President of Nigeria, he has a reasonable sense of security protection.
The media has been saturated with the demands made to the President by the Niger Delta Stakeholders at the parley held Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The demands include ownership of oil blocs by indigenes of Niger Delta, relocation of headquarters of IOCs to their area of operations (Niger Delta) addressing judicial issues as it affects certain personalities in the region, the Maritime University in Warri South -West Local Government, fiscal federalism, reducing military presence in the Niger Delta as well as the Bakassi question.
These are demands which the Buhari administration are not likely to be disposed to and might lead to increased insecurity issues in the operation of International Oil Companies, IOCs in the Niger Delta region.
