Warri South impounds vehicles, tricycles, goods over traffic offences

The authorities of Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State, in the effort to keep Warri clean has impounded vehicles, tricycles, goods over various traffic offences in the market and within the road at Hausa Quarters in the popular Igbudu Market, Warri.

The raid which is being carried out by the Council Boss, Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema through the supervision of the Council Supervisor for Environment, Mr. Kenneth George saw huge compliance by the traders at the Market, while offenders were made to face the law as their goods were impounded by the Council environment staff.

 

The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema while addressing the people at the council insisted that Warri South must be clean at all times.

He assured the continuous operation of cleaning Warri South and lamented the rate of lawlessness as it concerns individual hygiene and environmental sanitation in Warri South, while also warning residents against indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the metropolis and warned that anyone caught will be apprehended and charged to court.

 

Hon. Edema commended the Supervisor for Environment, Mr. Kenneth George, the council staff as well as youths of Warri South for the good job done in keeping Warri South clean.

 

Meanwhile, Warri South Council Supervisor for Environment, Kenneth George has given the operators of abattoir in Igbudu Market 72 hours ultimatum with effect from Monday February 27 to meet up with the relevant environment standard in order to carry out their business, failure to adhere to it will lead to closure of the abattoirs.

Kenneth George who disclosed to newsmen that the Warri South Council has given directive that traffic must be free at all times, also assured that the ‘operation keep Warri South clean is a continous exercise until everybody comply with the traffic law’.

Warri South Council Environmental Sanitation Task Force also visited and cleared Ajamimogha Mabiaku Link Road, were they impounded vehicles parked along the road obstructing traffic and were taking to the Council Secretariat.

 

 

It would be recalled that the authorities of Warri South Local Government Council had warned residents and traders within the market to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse, illegal parking and trading along the road.
