The Executive Chairman, Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, DBIR, Sir Monday John Onyeme says monthly Federal allocation accruing to Delta State is not enough to pay salaries of workers in the State and enjoined Deltans to support the Okowa led administration by paying their taxes as at when due.
Onyeme who did not disclose the monthly internally generated revenue in the State during the Tax Awareness / Fitness Walk Campaign held at Asaba, said the DBIR Board was committed in ensuring that the Revenue Base of the State receives expressive boost.
He stressed that Developed Nations in the world today don’t rely on crude oil for survival, but Internally Generated Revenue, saying Okowa has put in place tremendous Infrastructural Development that has transformed the State to an enviable height.
While calling on those in the Informal Sector not to see tax payment as punishment, he maintained that Government can only serve better when citizens pay their taxes regularly.
He noted that tax payers money are judiciously use for the Development of the State/Providing basic amenities for her citizens" We must not relent in standing firm behind the Okowa led administration."
