The National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity, XKRAVOS DECK) on Thursday June 18, organized awareness campaign against fire outbreak at Main Market, Warri as well as enlightenment talk on the causes & effects of substance abuse on mental health.

The Inspector of Fire Service Warri, Delta State Fire Service Command, Mr. Churchill Asigbe, who spoke on the Incident of Fire Outbreak in Main Market; The role of traders and the Delta State Fire Service Commission, identified gap between the Fire Service and the people, saying it’s better to prevent fire than to extinguish fire when it happens.

While advising traders to put off all electrical appliances, before going home at the close of business everyday, Mr. Asigbe, said when fire occurs, the victims should dial the fire service emergency line-112, 08065356703.

He stressed the need for traders drying fish, to always put off the fire they use in smoking their fish, before leaving the market premises, saying the major causes of fire in market places, are electricity and unquenched fire from roasting fish.

Mr. Asigbe, said fire extinguishers should be stationed in different positions in market places, just as he advised traders to insure their properties/goods.

They should stop selling and keeping of fuel, kerosene and diesel in the shop, fire safety is everybody's concern”, he added.

Dr. Joseph Onovhiona, speaking

“When a friend introduces you to drugs, it will eventually destroy you in the future. You will find yourself stealing from your classmates, just because you want to satisfy your cravings and probably become an armed robber, who will be caught, shot to death or imprisoned.

“You will not be normal anymore and your future is gone, which means you will disappoint your parents, self and the society”, he admonished the students.

The Principal of Yonwuren College, Warri, Comr. Esther Omare Abrakata, who appreciated the National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity, XKRAVOS DECK) for the awareness campaign, said: “Recently, they (Pyrates Confraternity, XKRAVOS DECK) celebrated children's party and today, they gave gifts to the first 10 students that came early to school.
