Chairman of Ika South Local Government Area, Delta State, Hon. Fred Ofume has strongly backed Local Government autonomy, saying it will correct the anomalies in the system.
Ofume gave his backing in Agbor when members of Delta State Chapter of Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria, ACNPN paid him a courtesy visit at his office.
He underscored the importance of information in any society and charged members of the association to be objective in their reportage.
Fred Ofume commended ACNPN for the visit and enjoined them to give adequate publicity to the programs and policies of Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, stressing that people lost hope in the leadership of Local Government Councils in Nigeria because they failed in the responsibility to provide social amenities for the people.
