The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege says there is hunger in the land because the baton of leadership in Delta State was given to the wrong people, saying that come 2019, if eligible Deltans register and vote for the right person (s) there will be surplus in the land.

Senator Omo Agege stated this weekend in Effurun, Delta State while doling out N 20, 000 each to female petty traders as part of his empowerment programme to the downtrodden people of Delta Central Senatorial District.

On the ongoing INEC registration exercise, the lawmaker said, “I wish to advise you to register so that you can vote for the right candidate in the next elections, because it is only when you register that you can exercise your right”.

He disclosed that the next phase of his empowerment programme will focus on youths, men and undergraduates of Delta State origin.

Our Delta Central Correspondent reports that women traders that benefited from the latest round of empowerment were drawn from Effurun Main Market, Ugborikoko Market, Abraka, Kokori and Eku Markets.

The women expressed joy for the empowerment and promised to register in the ongoing voters’ exercise to enable them vote for candidates of their choice in the forthcoming elections.

It would be recalled that Senator Ovie- Omo Agege earlier empowered market women in Ewu, Agbarho and Otokutu communities.
