HOSTCOM tackles Buhari’s Aide over alleged plans to truncate surveillance agreement with FG
Dr. Style Benjamin addressing Newsmen in Warri

The Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas, HOSTCOM Niger Delta has warned Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brigadier General Paul Boroh (Rtd.) over alleged plans by his Office to truncate the agreement between HOSTCOM and the Federal Government on pipelines’ surveillance contract.

Our Delta Central Correspondent reports that the Acting National Chairman of HOSTCOM, Dr. Style Benjamin who handed down the warning Monday August 14 at the NUJ Press Centre in Warri during a briefing, explained that the membership of HOSTCOM includes ex-militants, noting that both the NNPC and the federal government are in agreement to allow the body take charge of pipelines’ surveillance.

According to Dr. Benjamin, what HOSTCOM expects from the Federal Government for now is an invite to the body for the official signing of the surveillance contract, warning that anything short of that is capable of derailing the fragile peace being experienced in the oil and gas sector in the Niger Delta.

He said, “we are aware of his (Boroh) manipulation of the amnesty programme and his payment mode and to remind him that surveillance services is different ball game and outside his schedule of duty and cannot mortgage what rightly belongs to the host community of the Niger Delta region”.
