Okowa’s Aide flays ‘over-bloated’ civil service in Delta
Mr. Moses Abe

Special Adviser to Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa on Inter Party Affairs, Mr. Moses Abe has flayed what he described as over-bloated civil service in Delta State, even as he called on political parties in the State to practice constructive criticism, Our Delta North Correspondent reports.

Speaking in an interactive section with representatives of political parties in the state, Abe said the opposition party in Delta State must live up to expectations by engaging the ruling PDP in constructive criticism and not the alleged falsehood some political parties have purportedly been trading in recently.

While tracing the causes of current recession in the country to low demand for Nigeria’s crude oil, amidst ethnic agitation as well as prevailing anger in the country, the Governor’s Aide noted that the problems of Governor Okowa was further compounded by the over-bloated workforce in the State, which is well over 60,000.

“Governor Ifeanyi Okowa meant well for you and you must not allow yourself to be used by any person or group to fight the government or heat up the polity unnecessarily”, Abe stated.

In her contribution, Mrs. Oluremi Mohamed, the Chairperson and Governorship candidate of the Peoples For Democratic Change (PDC) in 2015 general election, advised the opposition parties to stop looking up to the governor's grants for survival, even as she urged them to also refrain from adopting candidates for governorship position.

She stated that such attitude make the opposition parties look as if they are beggars and called on them to engage in grassroots mobilization so that government will see them as credible oppositions capable of providing alternative to their style of governance.
