My SMART Direction for Warri South Local Government-Uroye

At this critical period in the administration of Local Government Councils in Nigeria, vis-à-vis the challenge of paucity of funds being faced by the three tiers of government, it is incumbent on us in Warri South Local Government Area to elect an aspirant with the requisite experience and knowledge to pilot affairs of the council in-line with the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa’s SMART agenda.

As a former Career Environmental Health Officer in the old Warri South Local Government Area, thereafter Secretary to the Local Government and later Chairman of Warri South Local Government Transition Committee, you cannot but agree with me that Warri South will move to greater heights with me, Dr. Augustine Uroye on the saddle.

This is not forgetting the knowledge, exposure, contacts and experience I have garnered over the years around the world as a successful businessman.

S-STRATEGIC WEALTH CREATION

A key component of His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa’s people-centered programme for Deltans, was well articulated and implemented during my spell as Chairman of Warri South Local Government Transition Committee. Through the now defunct SURE-P, my administration judiciously gave out Tricycles and financial lifelines to small scale entrepreneurs as well as engaged several adhoc workers for daily cleaning of major roads and streets in Warri.

If given the mandate, I will invest in the enhancement of the business of artisans and development of skills of young graduates.

M- MEANINGFUL PEACE BUILDING PLATFORM

My antecedent in peace building efforts and peaceful co-existence are verifiable and can be attested to by ethic as well as political leaders in Warri South Local Government Area.

I dedicated so much resources and time in peace building as Chairman of Warri South Local Government Transition Committee and I’m even more poised to consolidate on the foundation already laid if given the mandate as next Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area.

A-AGRICULTURAL REFORMS AND ACCELERATED INDUSTRIALIZATION

The Modular Fish Farm in Warri South Local Government Council Main Secretariat received major boost under my administration and as a matter of importance, Agriculture will be given top-most priority immediately I am sworn-in as Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area with the people’s support. Reasonable resources will be channeled into the production of cash crops, vegetables and other agricultural produce. The partnership of community leaders will be vital in this regard.  

R-RELEVANT HEALTH AND EDUCATION POLICIES

Proper funding and rehabilitation of the health centers like we did, particularly at Orugbo Health Centre when I was Transition Committee Chairman will be further enhanced. Our adult literacy centers, primary schools and Local Education Authority, LEA Office will get the necessary funding for infrastructural upgrade as well as training and retraining of staff to meet up with the current challenges.

T-TRANSFORMED ENVIRONMENT THROUGH URBAN RENEWAL

Apart from expanding our environmental sanitation coverage areas in the Oil City of Warri, premium attention will be accorded to street beautification, adherence to traffic rules and ensuring compliance to the original map of the structural edifice of Warri.
