Aggrieved contractors and landlords of buildings occupied by Area offices of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC on Tuesday September 26 began a three-day protest at the Warri Main Office of the commission along Warri Sapele Road, calling on Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to pay them their money.

Our Correspondent who covered the protest, reports that while the DESOPADEC area offices property owners are demanding for the payment of their five years rent, the contractors berated the State Government for paying them for jobs already executed in peace meal.

The placards with subscriptions such as “stop paying new jobs to the detriment of ongoing ones”, “release DESOPADEC fund now Okowa”, “we say no to 10%” and “where is our N 1.65 billion”?.

Comrade Samson Mayone, Patron to the landlords and contractors of DESOPADEC, told Fresh Angle International that they will continue the protest until the State Governor, Dr. Okowa pays them their monies.

According to him, despite collapsing the area offices from 38 to 19 on assumption of duty, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa hasn’t paid DESOPADEC property owners the rent the commission has been owing for 5 years.
