The Kogi State House of Assembly on Tuesday January 30 passed the sum of N151, 677, 854, 494 billion for the 2018 fiscal year into Law.

The increase in the budget cut across various areas such as accreditation of courses in the State own Institutions, Road Constructions and Maintenance, Security Service, Projects and Training amongst others.

Passing the budget at its sitting, the lawmakers charged the Executive Arm of Government to ensure proper implementation.

The passage followed the third and final reading of the bill after due consideration under the Chairmanship of the Speaker, Prince Matthew Kolawole.

Estimated recurrent revenue was put at N91.2billion, while the expected capital receipts were put at N60.4billion.

The recurrent expenditure summary was put at N63.9billion while the capital expenditure were put at N87.6billion.

Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that the Chairman of Committee on Finance, Appropriation and Budget Monitoring, Momohjimoh Lawal member representing Okene II, presented the committee’s report on the appropriation bill.

According to the committee, the State Government should ensure that enough funds were released to MDAs to execute capital projects, provide them with vehicles and necessary tools for their jobs.

The Speaker, Prince Mathew Kolawole in his remarks thanked committee members for their relentless efforts towards making the budget a reality just as he charged them to do more in their oversight duties.
