The Delta State NCWS President while stating that Chief Joseph Otumara made the society to stand in the Local Government Area, noted the contributions of the immediate past Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area (Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema) and quipped that the National Council of Women Societies which was founded in 1958, fought for women to be granted maternity leave as well as hold key legislative and appointive positions.

She appealed to the Warri South Council Boss to assist in pleading with the Delta State Governor to provide Secretariat for the society.

The President of NCWS, Warri South Local Government, Comrade Lilian Orighomisan Amuge who spoke earlier, assured Hon. Michael Tidi that they were behind him, stressing that the aim of the society includes the promotion of socio-economic welfare of women, the disabled as well as the enthronement of the culture of self-reliance in women.

The newly invested patron of NCWS Warri South Local Government, Mrs. Juliet Tidi, expressed joy at the investiture and promised to continue to “support the NCWS in every way by God’s grace”.

Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Hon. Michael Tidi in his remark, stated that he doesn’t joke with women because of the role his mother played in his life, acknowledging that he was overwhelmed by the request to invest his wife as Warri South Patron of the society.

While noting that he wasn’t unaware of the request for subvention by the Warri South Chapter of the society, Hon. Tidi spoke extensively on the incorporation of women in his administration and promised to give support to NCWS in their laudable pursuit.
