Contract Execution: Indigenous investor identifies multinationals, communities as major challenges

An expert in welding and fabrication, Mr. George Timiyan has identified unwillingness of multinational oil and gas companies to obey local content act in the award of contracts as well as demands by community people as major challenges facing indigenous contractors in the Niger Delta.

Timiyan who is the Director /Chief Executive Officer of GEOTimitek Nigeria Limited, a Niger Delta based company with over 10 years experience in marine and land transportation as well as civil and building works, made the assertion in Warri Wednesday March 7 during a chat with Our Freelance Correspondent, Elizabeth Adojor.

 According to him, apart from the multinational companies' reluctance to patronize local contractors, they often fail to implement the 25 to 45 days agreement for payment for jobs executed whenever they award such contracts.          

He also bemoaned the unnecessary demands by indigenes of communities in the Niger Delta where contracts awarded are to be executed.
