The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli on Saturday June 30 inaugurated fresh 31-member Olu-In-Council, with a charge on them to take up the responsibility of 'Think-Thank ' of Warri Kingdom and not just serve as advisory body.

The Warri Monarch who tasked members of the new advisory body to develop creative ways to achieve an Itsekiri central fund and identify sources of multiple income to attract money into the "purse", demanded" a contrite 5-10 years development plan" for Itsekiri communities.

According to the Olu of Warri, the advisory council will need to develop templates for implementing decisions taken in tandem with the Warri Council of Chiefs and initiate policies on how "to get people to represent us in government, whether through elections or by appointment, policies on how to grow our population and promote the Itsekiri language".

While harping on the need to foster ties and good relationship with other ethnic nationalities, especially the Yoruba, the Warri king stressed the need to identify what is responsible for"current low level of educational and human capacity development in Iwere land, resulting in almost zero participation of our people in career civil service, diplomatic service, the armed forces" amongst other key MDAs.

He enjoined the council to work towards actualizing the development master plan for Ode-Itsekiri, the traditional headquarters of Itsekiri people.
