DTHA 2019: Uroye wins Warri South 1 PDP ticket

Former Chairman of Warri South Local Government Transition Committee and ex Secretary to Warri South Local Government, Dr. Augustine Uroye on Thursday October 4, emerged Peoples Democratic Party flag bearer for Warri South Constituency1 seat ahead of the 2019 elections, polling 31 votes to defeat Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema, Princess (Mrs.) Shola Daibo and Hon. Augustine Tete, three of whom scored 24, 17and 3 votes respectively.

Announcing the result at Warri City Stadium, venue of the primary, the Electoral Officer delegated by the PDP National Working Committee to oversee the primary, Pedro Egharevba, noted that a total of 75 delegates were accredited out of the 77 registered delegates.

He subsequently declared Dr. Uroye winner of the primary after agents of Mrs. Shola Daibo, Hon. Matthew Edema and Hon. Augustine Tete signed the result sheet.

Delta State Peoples Democratic Party Deputy Chairman, Barr. Ada Val Arenyeka, Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Dr. Michael Tidi and Political Adviser to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Hon. Omimi Esquire, commended the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and members of PDP leadership in the state for leaving up to their promise of ensuring a level playing field for all aspirants in the state.

They described the election as free, fair, credible and peaceful, calling on other political parties to emulate PDP in terms of free and fair primaries.

Dr. Uroye in a chat with newsmen after emerging victorious, gave God the glory for the success.

While describing the primary as the freest of all elections, the PDP House of Assembly Candidate for Warri South Constituency 1, stated that Governor Okowa has shown leadership in action without bias.

He thanked the party for displaying internal democracy and expressed optimism that other aspirants that contested with him will work towards his victory and that of the entire PDP in the 2019 polls.
