Ex-President Jonathan is grand patron of Niger Delta Avengers, Ex-militant insists

An ex-militant leader, Israel Akpodoro, has stated that the allegation by a faction of the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, that the former President Goodluck Jonathan, is the grand patron of the group didn't come as a surprise to 'Nigerians of goodwill' saying his group, the National Coalition of the Niger Delta Ex-Agitators, NCNDE-A held that view long before now.

According to the Urhobo-born ex-militant leader, the latest revelation by the same group being funded by the Ijaw-born former president is a proof that Dr Jonathan isn't a statesman but a mere ethnic jingoist who sees nothing good in the peace and unity of the Nigerian state.

Akpodoro challenged those he called Jonathan's psychosomatic defenders to come out in the defence of their political model and progenitor saying the federal government should strip the former President of the honours due a to him describing him as a tribalist who divided Nigeria deeper according to religious and ethnic lines.

Akpodoro questioned the rationale behind Jonathan's appointment by the African Union, AU as an election observer in Tanzania, noting that recent revelations have proven that the former president was being overrated by the international communities, stressing that his actions betrays public posture.

No amount of subterfuge or denial according Akpodoro who is the National President of the NCNDE-A would convince Nigerians otherwise because "the rascality of the then president played out at the collation centre where his kinsman, Mr Godsday Orubebe attempted to impede the electoral process in a coup allegedly orchestrated by the who wears many faces."

He called on the FG to invite reliable members of the splinter group, investigate the allegation through a Commission of Inquiries to ascertain the involvement of the former President and his co-travellers who were alleged to be co-sponsors of the attackers of the Nigeria's oil and gas facilities in the Niger Delta region.

If found wanting, he urged the security operatives not to hesitate to bring Jonathan to justice noting that no one was above the law.

On the inclusion of former Governor now Senator Godswill Akpabio and Governor Nyesom Wike and Government Ekpemukpolo, a.k.a Tompolo, the former warlord said no one was in doubt over their propensity to fund secession against the Nigeria state but urged the law enforcement agencies to apprehend them now.
