It is no longer news that four armed robbery suspects believed to be in their mid twenties were about 2pm Monday September 26 shot dead by a Police patrol team at Ekpen Bend in Ajamimogha Road, Warri, but investigation has however revealed that two guns and two Nokia phones were found in the Volkswagen Passat car used for operation by the hoodlums, while charm with white handkerchief was reportedly seen on the waist of Ovie, one of the dead robbery suspects believed to be kingpin of the gang.

Our Correspondent who was at the Police ‘A’ Division in Warri, reports that the Police Area Commander in Warri, ACP Mohammed Muazu got wind of the operations of the four-man gang along the Cemetery Road Area in the heart of Warri and immediately detailed a Patrol team to chase the gang.

Ovie, Jarveh and the other two members of the notorious gang allegedly robbed a man who withdrew money from a branch of Union Bank and it was learnt that they subsequently paid in N100, 000 into a bank account, while they proceeded on an unclear patrol mission with N26, 000.00 suspected to be part of their loot .

Police sources say their movement was trailed by the Police patrol team, following a directive by the Warri Area Commander. On sensing that the Police patrol team was closing in on them along the Ajamimogha Road in Warri, the gang opened fire on the Police, but were over-powered by the combat ready Police team who punctured the tires of the car used by the gang in a bid to halt their escape.

Reports say that two members of the gang attempted to run since their vehicle stopped abruptly, but they were gunned down, even as the Police pounced on the remaining two inside the car and shot them to death in a superior cross-fire.

Some residents of Warri who thronged to the scene of the bloody shoot-out, reportedly indentified Ovie as a notorious hit-man and drug addict.
