The President and Commander In-Chief

Federal Republic of Nigeria

Muhammadu Buhari

Aso Rock Villa

Abuja.

Your Excellency, on behalf of the afore-stated forum, we humbly wish you and other Nigerians a Happy and Prosperous 2017.

We would rather not bother you with trivia community issue considering the enormous challenges confronting your administration, especially in terms of security, economy and other begging socio-political matters of National interests.

The insensitivity of certain impostors who chose to denigrate the Office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by writing you frivolous open letter on page 2 of Vanguard Newspaper of Monday January 2, 2017, necessitated our action Sir. We are indeed very apologetic of the misadventure of this group of persons with questionable character.

Permit us to refer inter-alia to a section of the author’s first paragraph, “we write you first and foremost to commend you for the great work you are doing in every aspect of our National life to cleanse it of illegality, miscreants, criminals and criminalities, so corruption at every level might be eradicated and our economy have a free flow so we can take our rightful place and position as the giant of Africa”. The authors of the advertorial, especially the signatory, one Brown Onajite Tesigimoje may have appealed to the sentiments of Nigerians who do not know them by couching an introductory remark to give an impression that they are people of impeccable character in support of Your Excellency’s genuine and relentless efforts, aimed at stamping out corrupt people and criminal elements.

Unfortunately however, signatory of the inconsequential and warped advertorial succeeded in reminding us of a classical case of forgery, fraud and impersonation he purportedly committed between 2002/2003, when he allegedly attempted to defraud a Lebanese by forging Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC ‘Letter Head’ and signing the signature of an SPDC Management Official, Chief Gbadamosi. This act was purportedly executed on the guise that our community, Ugborodo wanted an Oil Rig.

The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken to Police ‘A’ Division in Warri, Delta State. It took the intervention of two of our elder brothers (names withheld) before he was granted bail on compassionate grounds, the case is still pending and we humbly use this medium to appeal to the EFCC as well as ICPC to investigate the matter in-line with Your Excellency’s zero tolerance for corruption.

It’s quite laughable that authors of the said advertorial didn’t even know the proper name of Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL and Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC. They exhibited this by referring to the Oil and Gas majors as “Chevron Petroleum” and “Shell Petroleum” in most aspects of their baseless and directionless piece.

The uncoordinated write-up also reminds us of the age-long doubt in our mind of whether or not signatory of the advertorial, Brown Onajite Tesigimoje is truly from any of the communities that make up Ugborodo in Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State or if he is among those who only came to our land to perpetrate illegal bunkering as speculations suggest.

Sir, we are however gladdened that your administration has largely succeeded in tackling crude oil theft and illegal bunkering headlong, hence we are not surprised all kinds of unwarranted write-ups are popping up in the social and conventional media to deceive gullible minds who do not know the identity of the sponsors.

Authors of the vexed advertorial ignorantly or carelessly used the words “Traditional Authority Institution”, to mislead the unsuspecting public that the Itsekiri Nation has another King aside the revered Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli.

This is one sacrilege Itsekiris globally take exception to. Those behind the act should take note or be ready to face the wrath of Iwere sons and daughters. For the avoidance of doubt, what exists in Ugborodo community is an historical structure vis-avis Olaja- Orori, Eghare-Aja, Council of Elders, Trust Executive and Youth Wing.

This was why the Olu extended the tenure of the EPZ Interface Committee by one year, which is still running, to allow genuine stakeholders reach a compromise on the way forward for our community.

Mr. President, Delta State Government in-line with the Olu of Warri pronouncement did not dissolve the EPZ Interface Committee, but called on each community that make up Ugborodo (Ajudaibo, Madangho, Ijaghala, Ogidigben and Ode-Ugborodo) to submit the names of three representatives each, including 10 nominees from the Emma Meke dissolved Management Committee Executive to make up the expanded EPZ Interface Committee Chaired by Barr. Austin Oborogbeyi.

Permits us to use this opportunity to appeal to our amiable Delta State Governor, Sen. Dr. A.  Ifeanyi Okowa to do the needful by formally inaugurating the additional nominees for the expanded EPZ Interface Committee given an extra year mandate, before a fraudster parading himself outside Warri Kingdom as Chief will catch in on the ignorance of innocent Nigerians and companies.

We must not fail to stress that Brown Onajite Tesigimoje and his cohorts have no locus standi to speak or write on behalf of Ugborodo people. He has no right to query the recent meeting some of our respected leaders had with Chevron Nigeria Limited.

Nobody should raise unnecessary alarm of any crisis in Ugborodo, except they intend to create one as they did January 5, 2013. Ugborodo is in peace and anyone attempting to start crisis in our community will face the wrath of the law, because we believe in the sagacity of your administration in quelling any uprising as well as crisis. The capture of Sambisa Forest and the decimation of hitherto dreaded Boko Haram is a testament of better days ahead.

Signed:
