Abduction: We were misconstrued for Police Officers, Warri Community Chair reveals

Chairman of Ureju Community Trust, Warri North Local Government Area in Delta State, Mr. Eniyan Henry Tonwe has revealed that the militants that abducted him, three other Itsekiri community leaders and officials of Elcrest, an NPDC contracting firm along Ologbo in Benin River on Tuesday May 16 misconstrued Kele Mene and himself for Police Officers.

Mr. Tonwe who made the disclosure Wednesday May 24 at his private residence in Warri when he received other members of Ureju Community Trust that came to rejoice with him on his release, narrated how their boat was ambushed by the militants along the Benin River on their way to Warri and taken away to a thick forest within the coastline.

He thanked the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli who liaised with some Ijaw Monarchs, Chairman of Warri North Local Government Area, Chief Francis Maku, Itsekiri community leaders, members of his family, friends, the management of NPDC and Elcrest as well as Fresh Angle International and other media for the role they played to ensure their release from the den of the militants.

Speaking earlier, the Vice Chairman of Ureju Community Trust, Mr. Sunny Jirin Jeye who led other members of the community executive to rejoice with Eniyan Tonwe, prayed that incidences of abduction will not be recorded again in the oil-rich peaceful Benin River community.
