Monarch’s Intervention: CNL host communities’ graduate bodies ask VTP Trainees to resume work

The National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG, Egbema-Gbaramatu Graduates Employment Front, KOMBOT and the National Association of Ilaje Graduates, NAIG have asked striking VTP5/OTP2 and VTP6/OTP3 Trainees of Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL to resume work from Thursday June 29.

President of National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG, Comrade Collins Oritsetimeyin Edema who made the declaration on behalf of the host communities’ graduates’ coalition in a telephone chat Wednesday June 28, stated that the directive became necessary following the intervention of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli at a meeting held Tuesday June 27 at the Warri Monarch’s Palace.

Comrade Collins Edema while noting that the Itsekiri, Ijaw and Ilaje Graduates’ coalition will continue to ensure that indigenes of Chevron host communities are not deprived of their legitimate rights and entitlements in-line with the Nigerian Content Act, asserted that efforts were ongoing to address the grievances of the VTP5/ OTP2 and VTP6/OTP3 Trainees.

He enjoined Chevron to immediately do the needful in terms of the 151 trainees’ welfare and ensure better working conditions for them, stating that people of Chevron host communities will endeavor to maintain good relationship with the company while agitating for their legitimate rights.
