Boko Haram gunmen again struck at the Borno village of Bama, killing no fewer than 20 persons in a targeted bomb attack on the weekly local market which was already in session.
A trader at the market, Shuaibu Abdulahi, who witnessed the attack narrated his experience, saying no fewer than 29 persons lost their lives in the market attack.“I travelled to Bama to buy bags of beans, suddenly, there was a deafening bang at the middle of the market. It was in the late afternoon and commercial activities were at their peak, “he said.
But a commercial bus driver, Abba Tahir, who was offloading passengers at the market when the bomb went off, said he counted 20 bodies. “People were helping in evacuating the corpses after the confusion had died down. Some people who were injured were taken to the General Hospital”, Tahir said.
However, the military spokesman for Borno State could not respond to request for confirmation of the incident when filing this report.
