Delta State students in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife under the aegis of National Association of Delta State Students, NADESTU has bestowed Award of Excellence as the Most Emerging Distinguished Leader on sibling to Delta State Governor as well as House of Assembly hopeful in the 2015 general poll, Mr. Vincent Amejuma Uduaghan.
Speaking at the Award Ceremony, Mr. Vincent Uduaghan noted that the ascension to any positive and goal oriented leadership position is not by accident or mere wish, but one that requires deliberate, hardworking and conscious efforts.
He advised the students that for them to be the real leaders of tomorrow, they need to impact on the society positively and bring about societal growth and development, just as he admonished the students to shun bad advice and invest a lot of their time and resources into character building and strive toward academic excellence.
Speaking in a similar vein, the Chief Judge of Delta State, Justice Zai-laye Smith who is also one of the Awardees called on youths of the state especially the academics to follow the doctrines of commitment and focus religiously in whatever they do to achieve maximum success in their various field of endeavor.
Justice Zai-laye Smith made the call while addressing the students under the auspices of the National Association of Delta State Students, NADESTU in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife during the Association’s Delta Cultural/Symposium Day and Leadership Award with the theme: Unity in Diversity: Platform for Socio- Economic Development.
The Delta State Chief Judge who noted that the students must not toil with their academics said for them to occupy any leadership position in the society, they must develop themselves in their chosen fields and added that their competence must be unquestionable.
Mr. Vincent Uduaghan appealed to the students to always remain committed to their studies and be good ambassadors of Delta State, adding that the leadership of the state is always happy and ready to identify with Deltans to make positive marks within and outside the state.
He was honoured with an Award of Excellence as the Most Emerging Distinguish leader in his contribution to community and human capital development alongside the Chief Judge of Delta State, Justice Z. A. Smith and Mr. Anthony Chuks Obuh, Permanent Secretary, Government House (Protocol).
