Kogi Polytechnic matriculates 9033 students

The Kogi State Polytechnic has matriculated 9033 students into the Nation Diploma, ND and Higher National Diploma, HND programs of the institution.


Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Usman Ogbo, disclosed this Friday October 9, during the 27th Matriculation ceremony of the 2020/2021 academic session of the Polytechnic.


Dr. Ogbo, said the newly-admitted students consist of 6708 for Nation Diploma and 2325 for Higher Nation Diploma.


The Polytechnic Rector, while counseling the students, warned that the institution  is against cultism, exchanging money for grade and other social vices.


He said that any student caught in the above act would be sanctioned, saying that the management would not hesitate to expel such student.


“Am using this auspicious occasion to remind you that the polytechnic does not encourage cultism, exam malpractice or any act that would bring disgrace to the institution.


“The institution does not permit blocking, sorting and exchange of money for grades. Any student caught in this act would be expelled".


Dr. Ogbo urged the students to imbibe dialogue, peaceful co-existence, discipline and hard work to excel in their academic pursuit.


Earlier, the Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Mr. Wemi Jones, in his goodwill message lauded the Rector for physically transforming the polytechnic.




A Cross Section of the Matriculants


Mr. Jones, noted that the state is known for academic brilliance, as they are making frantic effort to review its falling academic system.


According to him, the Kogi State Government under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello, is embarking on Educational reforms, adding that Kogi State among the Northern State is the first to open schools and had not recorded any negative report.


He said this was achieved through adequate sensitization, just as he also warned that any one who engage in any social vices such as cultism, prostitution will be rusticated.


"On the 27th of February2020, your institution wrote an undertaken to us that there is no cultism in this school. I know during the Covid-19 pandemic, many of you traveled far and near. Please do not bring any negative act back to the school system. Anyone caught in any indecent act will be shown the exit door of the school" he warned.
