Itsekiri Ex - Agitators Leaders' Committee under the auspices of Itsekiri National Development Initiative, INDI have restated its earlier demand for the inclusion of Itsekiri indigenes in the administration of the Presidential Amnesty Office, alleging that the present composition of personnel running the programme is skewed in favour of a particular tribe in the Niger Delta.
The committee in a statement made available to Fresh Angle International this morning, Sunday November 1, alleged that Itsekiri Nation, especially its ex - agitators who disarmed in October 2009 at Koko in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, have been deprived and abandoned in the administration of the amnesty programme, " because those in the office are majorly from one ethnic Nationality".
The statement signed by President and Secretary of the INDI Committee, Comrade Dennis Mene and Wilson Omatseye respectively, called on the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Col. Milland Dixion Dikio ( rtd.) to as a matter of justice and fairness, appoint some Itsekiri indigenes as Aides, so as to correct the perceived marginalization of Itsekiri Nation in the administration of the Presidential Amnesty Office.
According to them, previous agreements reached in principle with two former administrators of the amnesty programme as it affects staffing of Itsekiri indigenes and creating a desk for them in the resolve to address the exclusion, have not been implemented.
