IAMFAPC lambasts Eboh, Okandeji over perceived disrespect for Isoko, Itsekiri and Ijaw Leaders of APC

A political pressure group, Itsekiri Action Movement For All Progressives Congress, IAMFAPC, has lambasted the duo of Benjamin Eboh and Hon. Gabriel Okandeji over what they described as utter show of disrespect to prominent Leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Delta South Senatorial District.

In a statement issued Sunday July 4, entitled "Urhobo Ethnic Nationality in Delta South Disowns Communiqué Published by Dr. Alex Ideh and Others", Benjamin Eboh and Gabriel Okandeji, purportedly acting on behalf of Urhobo APC leaders in Delta South Senatorial District, had accused the leaders of Isoko, Itsekiri and Ijaw ethnic groups in APC of promoting disunity in the party.

The duo, hinged their accusation on the plea by the Itsekiri, Isoko or Ijaw leaders on President Buhari to appoint someone from one of the three tribes (3 Is) as the substantive Chairman of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

IAMFAPC, in a press statement while responding to Eboh and Okandeji, stated: “We note the use of foul and insulting language, which these two persons used on our leaders, but we would not descend to their level to join issues.

“We would only deal by addressing the pertinent matters. Today the Urhobos of Delta State by the special grace of God, have ascended to the following positions; Deputy Senate President in person of Omo- Agege, NDDC, Executive Director Projects, Executive Director, NEXIM BANK- Chairman, Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund, Minister of State for Labour (The only Ministerial slot to Delta State) Member, Federal Character Commission, Commissioner, National Population Commission, Chairmanship and membership of several Federal Boards and parastatals, Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Petroleum and Vice Chancellorship for every university in Delta State, all Ambassadorial appointments to Delta State, Board member, Nigeria Export Import Bank (NEXIM) and Woman Representative, APC Interim National Caretaker Committee”.

In the statement signed by Spokesman of IAMFAPC, Comrade Awala J. Omagbitse, they asked: “Does it not stand to reason that other ethnic groups should be given a chance to hold influential positions for the benefit of their people in Delta APC? Why should the major NDDC position zoned to Delta South Senatorial District go to Urhobo again, leaving out the Ijaw, Itsekiri and Isoko, who make up 90% of the area? This is even most nauseating, when it is clear that the area occupied by the Urhobos in Delta South, does not produce one gallon of crude oil. Is it not sheer greed that the Urhobos want to appropriate everything to themselves and themselves alone? Is there any sense of justice and equity in what the Deputy Senate President (Urhobo leader) did by nominating an Urhobo man, even if he is from Delta South? If the duo of Eboh and Okandeji can answer the above questions with sincerity, then we can begin to look at their grievances”.

“For us all these talk of Orosuen of Okere Urhobo and Ovie of this and that kingdom are mere distraction from the crux of the matter that the Delta South Senatorial leaders addressed”, IAMFAPC noted.
