Fresh Angle International can report that this was the main thrust of the ‘Dialogue’, held Wednesday July 28, at Edjeba Town Hall in Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, by 100 Women Lobby Group, Delta State Chapter, in strategic partnership with #secureourlivesng.

The Interactive session, provided a veritable platform for amplifying citizens' voices and actions, especially women, who have experienced insecurity triggered by Farmer/Herder Violence, Kidnapping, State Sponsored Violence, Non-State Actor Violence, Domestic abuse and General Insecurity (Rape, Murder, Assault and Armed Robbery).

A Facilitator of 100 Women Lobby Group, Chief Linda Eya Ikpuri, advised women to always play complimentary role to their male counterparts, “for better deals”.

She explained that the group was aimed at encouraging women participation in politics, professional and business associations.

The Delta State Coordinator, 100 Women Lobby Group, Dr. Joyce Ogwezi, who was represented by the Deputy Coordinator, Ayo Okotie, stated that they have embarked on campaign, involving collection of women and civil society organizations, in the resolve to place women at the forefront of National call so as to increase accountability in the war against terror as well as ensure the security of lives and property in Nigeria.

Dr. Ogwezi, reiterated the group’s advocacy to include: higher inclusiveness of women in governance, end to kidnapping, rape, influencing the deployment of security assets and set-up early warning mechanisms on security challenges.

She noted: "Nigeria is one of the most unstable and terrorized countries in the world. We are currently ranked third in the world, with a death toll of 25,711 people, killed between 2010-2019. Women and Children bear the major brunt arising from wars and conflicts, therefore, we are concerned about the spate of violence pervading the Nation and call on the government to #SecureOurLives".

The Unuevworo of Edjeba, Agbarha-Warri, Chief Michael Ikpuri, assured the women groups of his support in the pursuit of actualizing their goals.

CEO of Focus Guard Security Company, Tsola Mese, advised governments and other organizations to consider giving women 60 percent slot in governance and see how they can maximise it.

The group staged a peace walk within Edjeba and observed a minute silence, for those who have lost their lives in the various conflicts in Nigeria, including women kidnapped across the country and called for government intervention to save women from undue danger.

Our Senior Correspondent reports that others who spoke include Chairman of Edjeba community, youth representatives as well as women.
