Agediga’s ideas played vital role in the peace being enjoyed in Niger Delta, says Pathfinder

The National Coordinator, Niger Delta Advocate For Peace and Good Governance, Advocate for Peace & Sustainable Development, NDAPGGG, Comrade Fiawei Pathfinder, says the idea of Executive Director, Planning Research and Statistics in the Board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Amb. Dr. Shedrack Agediga, played vital role in the peace being enjoyed in Niger Delta region of the country.

Our Senior Correspondent reports that Comrade Pathfinder, made the declaration in Warri, Delta State, Thursday November 4, at the Office of the Executive Director, Planning Research and Statistics, ED PRS, in the Board of DESOPADEC.

He described Amb. Agediga, as an advocate for peace and good governance, bridge builder, detribalized personality, icon of peace and a rallying point for progressive and positive minds.

NDAPGGG, in their advocacy visit, described the ED PRS of DESOPADEC as a proud son of Sokobulo Community in Ogulagha Kingdom of Burutu Local Government Area in Delta State, saying he has impacted lives positively as youth chairman of Ogulagha Kingdom, very generous to people of the area and Niger Delta at large, hence they decided to honour him.

While presenting the “Outstanding Excellent Performance Award”, to Amb. (Dr.) Agediga in recognition for his good works toward the service of humanity, National Coordinator of NDAPGGG, urged the awardee to sustain preaching peace in the community.

Secretary of NDAPGGG, Ak Peters, pointed out that the group is a Non -Governmental Organization, NGO, birthed to seek justice, peace, good governance, equity, fairness and progress, noting that the group is concerned about fighting marginalization, exclusion and exploitation of the people as well as under-development of the area.

Responding, Amb. Shedrack Agediga, commended NDAPGGG, “for the surprise award”, expressing delight for the research done about him, as youth chairman of Ogulagha Kingdom and ED PRS of DESOPADEC.

Amb. Agediga, charged public office holders to be ready at all times, to be accountable to the people, saying if they cannot be accountable, they should not occupy public office.

He urged the group, to take up any public office holder, perceived not to be doing the right thing, irrespective of political party affiliation, in order to have sanity in governance, just as he canvassed for posthumous recognition of “apostle of Niger Delta development”, to be awarded for General Sani Abacha and former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.

The ED PRS of DESOPADEC, stated that he has contributed his quarter to the development and enthronement of peace in the Niger Delta, charging youths in the region “not to use the gun, but make good use of leadership position for advancing and attracting development to the Niger Delta”.

As part of the brief ceremony, members of NDAPGGG, unveiled and presented a portrait of Amb. Agediga to him.
