Commuters send SOS to Uduaghan, NDDC on deplorable state of Bomadi-Ohoro road

Travelers plying the Bomadi-Ohoro road have sent a Save Our Soul, SOS message to the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC calling on them to urgently come to their rescue and fix the road, which has become impassable.

Our Bomadi Correspondent reports that the commuters made the appeal in an exclusive interview with Fresh Angle International after several hours of being trapped on a section of the failed road.

Investigation reveals that the Bomadi-Ohoro road which is a link to Ughelli North and South, Patani, Burutu, and Bomadi Local Government Areas as well as parts of Bayelsa State has come under pressure following the increased socio-economic activities in Bomadi Local Government Area and its environs.

Commercial drivers now drop their passengers at one end of the bad spot to trek across in order to complete the rest part of the journey, while commercial motorcycle riders have taken advantage of the road to make brisk cash from the already frustrated travelers as they are charged exorbitant amounts.

As at the time of filing this report, there was no effort to carry out any palliative measure as youths in the area extort money from drivers to facilitate their passage.

One of the travelers who bared his frustration said, “I have been waiting to make my way through for several hours now. I got to this place about 8:45 am and this is 11:50 am without any hope on sight. I am appealing to the State Government and the NDDC to urgently do something on the road”.

The current expansion work on the road was awarded by NDDC to Levant Construction Company when Elder Godsday Orubebe was Minister of Niger Delta Affairs.
