Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan says the state government has so far completed 5 bridges out of the 25 bridges expected to link up Ode-Itsekiri and other adjourning communities to Warri.
He made the disclosure recently at Ode-Itsekiri, the ancestral home of Itsekiri people during the traditional paying of homage to the Olu of Warri as part of activities to mark the monarch’s silver jubilee celebration.
While noting the state government’s effort at constructing a 7km road at Ode-Itsekiri, Governor Uduaghan acknowledged the serious challenge facing the state government in terms of job creation and commended other ethnic groups in the area for their co-operation and peaceful co-existence.
He warned that any youth who disrupt development projects shall be dealt with, while such projects will be withdrawn from the benefiting community.
Our Correspondent who was at Ode-Itsekiri, reports that distinguished Itsekiri sons and daughters as well as communities and groups who were clad in colourful Itsekiri attires paid traditional homage to the Olu.
