The Management of Matrix Energy, has broken silence on the explosion that occurred at his LPG Terminal in Warri, Delta State, Friday night, July 8, commending the relevant government agencies and companies that helped to put out the inferno, which caused damages estimated to be in hundreds of millions in naira valuation.
The position of Matrix Energy as obtained by Fresh Angle International, from the company's twitter handle midday today, Saturday July 9, is as follows: "There was a fire incident at our LPG Facility in Warri at about 19:25 hrs yesterday the 8th of July 2022.
"Immediately the incident occurred, our company activated its emergency response plan and the situation was brought under control by the intervention of our fire/safety team along with safety team from the Warri Refinery Petrochemical Company, WRPC and the Nigerian Gas Company, NGC.
"Support from the Delta State Fire Service, the Warri Refining Petrochemical Company, WRPC, Nigeria Port Authority, NPA, the Nigerian Gas Company, NGC and the Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, also came in promptly and we all succeeded in curtailing the spread of the fire.
"We are indeed thankful to God that there were no casualties recorded.
"We sincerely wish to thank our Matrix Safety team, the Fire Service from the Delta State Government, the Warri NPA, NGC, WRPC, SPDC our host Communities and several State and Federal regulatory representatives from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Agency, NMDPRA, for their quick intervention and support.
"Special thanks to Dr. Michael Tidi, the Chairman Warri South LGA for his immense support at the time of the incident.
"We have commenced a post-incident investigation to establish the immediate and remote cause of the incident and will effect actions in line with our high safety standards."
Meanwhile, two commissioners in Delta State Executive Council; Chief Emmanuel Amgbaduba and Hon. Johnbull Edema, alongside Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, visited Matrix Energy tank farm at Ifiekporo Community, today, Saturday July 9, for on - the - spot assessment of the unfortunate incident.
The Terminal Manager of Matrix Energy, Warri , Oyibo Ogale and the company's head of safety, Mr. Fred Olomuro, received the high - powered delegation, detailing the relevant officials of the foremost indigenous oil and gas company, to conduct the government delegation and community representatives round the burnt gas facilities.
