Despite petitions dated August 31, 2022 and September 5, 2022 written by one Mr. Afejuku Emmanuel, an interior decorator and his father, Mr. David Afejuku and addressed to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Area Commander, Nigeria Police Force, Warri, ‘Men in Miliary Uniform’ on Sunday September 4, allegedly picked up 70-year old Pa. David Afejuku on the alleged behest of a certain Miss Emmanuella Ufuoma Oghenede and took him (Pa. Afejuku) to an unknown destination, “like a sheep heading for the slaughter”, molested him, purportedly using boots and sticks on his body, leaving him with various external and internal injuries.

The alleged molestation of Pa. David Afejuku, left him in a very critical condition, very week and unable to decipher his surroundings.

The entire members of Afejuku family, were said to have gone into hiding as at the time of this report, over alleged death threats, after the abduction and subsequent harassment of Pa. David Afejuku.

According to a copy of a petition obtained by This Newspaper, the torture of Pa. David Afejuku, was sequel to an aborted N3m interior decoration contract, verbally entered into between Pa. Afejuku’s son, Mr. Emmanuel Afejuku and the said Miss Emmanuella Ufuoma Oghenede.

Mr. Emmanuel Afejuku, had petitioned the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Area Commander, Nigeria Police Force through his Attorney, Alufe & Alufe (Elohim Chambers) explaining how he: “Was  contracted by one Miss Emmanuella Ufuoma Oghenede to decorate a part of her apartment (parlour, dining room and master's bedroom) at Plantation City, Otokutu and after much deliberations, it was mutually agreed that she pay the total sum of Three Million, Six Hundred Thousand Naira only (N3,600,00.00) to our client for the job”.

The accused, Emmanuella Ufuoma Oghenede

In the petition titled: ‘COMPLAINT OF THREAT TO LIFE, HARRASSMENT, CRIMINAL INTIMIDATION, CRIMINAL ASSAULT AND MENACE AGAINST MISS EMMANUELLA UFUOMA OGHENEDE, DCO CHARLES, INSPECTOR ISAAC AND ANOTHER UNKNOWN PERSON. - A CRY FOR HELP”, Mr. Emmanuel Afejuku, noted: “The time frame for the job was agreed to be 2 weeks from the date of payment and Miss. Emmanuella Ufuoma Oghenede paid the sum of Three Million Naira (N3,000,000.00) only to our client on the 19 of August, 2022 with the balance sum of Six Hundred Thousand Naira (N600,000.00) to be paid on or before the completion of the job.

Our client received several calls from the said Miss Emmanuella Ufuoma Oghenede to hasten the job as she moved into the apartment earlier than the agreed time and began to pressurize our client to complete the job earlier than the time agreed upon.

After our client purchased the materials needed and began work on the apartment, the said Miss Emmanuella Ufuoma Oghenede began to complain that some of the materials, were substandard and she began to change the terms of the agreement they had earlier entered into.

Subsequently, our client received series of whatsapp messages from the boyfriend of the said Miss Emmanuella Ufuoma Oghenede to terminate the contract, otherwise he will deal with him and as a result of the threat, our client reported to A' Division police Station, Warri, Delta State

The said Miss Emmanuella Ufuoma Oghenede fixed a meeting with our client with regards to the termination of the contract to hold at the Delta City Shopping Mall on the 30" of August, 2022 and while they were there discussing, some men walked in and introduced themselves as policemen from Ebrumede Police Station, with their names as DCO Charles and Inspector Isaac.

Our client was arrested like a common criminal and detained in police custody and our client was forced, at the police station, to agree to pay the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000.00) back to the said Miss Emmanuella Ufuoma Oghenede and to return some items our client had bought and installed in the apartment.

Our client was only able to pay the sum of Four Hundred Thousand Naira only, at the police station, with an undertaking to pay the balance sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira the next day being 31 of August, 2022.

“The above event has placed great fear in the heart of our client as he fears for his life as these persons are a menace to our client and all he holds dear.

“The whole business between our client and the said Miss Emmanuelle Ufuoma Oghenede is purely civil in nature as it is a simple contract between our client and her and nothing more”.
