As part of efforts to tackle the growing youth unemployment and encourage diversification from over-dependence on crude oil as well as gas, the Rotary Club of Warri, District 9140 have trained 10 Delta Youths in cinematography, fashion design, catering services and hair dressing.
Our Correspondent reports that Nine graduants out of the ten that participated in the seven-month training under the youths Entrepreneurship Skill Programme for 2015/2016 Rotary Year, were presented with items such as video cameras, tripod stands, oven and gas cookers, shelving dishes, sewing and weaving machines, blenders and several other valuable Starter-Packs running into several millions of naira at a ceremony held in Warri Tuesday March 15, in-line with the Delta State Government’s S.M.A.R.T. agenda.
In their key note remarks shortly before the presentation of the Starter-Packs to the nine graduants, the District Governor of Rotary 9140, Ijeoma Pearl Okoro, represented by the Assistant Governor, Blackwell Idiahi, Senior Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Special Duties as well as President of Rotary Club of Warri, District 9140, Rotarian Griftson Timeyin Omatsuli, noted that beneficiaries of the programme will be monitored to ensure that the aim which is geared towards strategic wealth and job creation is achieved.
While enjoining the graduants, who are females not to sell the Starter-Packs, they emphasised the need for them to put the knowledge/skill gained to good use with a view to becoming largely successful entrepreneurs.
The Third President of Rotary Club of Warri, Rotarian Isaac Jemide challenged Rotarians to work towards increase in their membership, both in quality and quantity, just as the Vice President of Rotary Club of Warri, Rotarian Akatakpo Jonathan disclosed that the next regular immunization programme against Polio by Rotary Club of Warri will take place next month. The District 9140 of Rotary Club covers the South-South and South-East geopolitical zones.
