Business

Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL), operator of the Joint Venture between the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and CNL confirms that at about 0700 hours on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, a fire broke out in a container storage facility at our Escravos location away from the production operations area.

The fire was promptly put out. Sadly, two employees of Contractors to CNL died as a result of the fire incident. Our hearts go out to their families at this difficult time.

The incident has been reported to all relevant authorities including our Joint Venture Partner, NNPC and the Directorate of Petroleum Resources (DPR). We are investigating the cause of the incident.

Our priority is the safety of our employees and contractors. Chevron wishes to reiterate its commitment to operational excellence, the safety of all personnel, the security of assets and protection of the environment.
